Alcohol services

alcohol serviceAll of our services offer help to people who are dependent on alcohol as well as drugs. By providing alcohol services within all our programmes, we can support people throughout their recovery, providing them with appropriate support and advice, and referring clients into relevant treatment services.

WDP also has several specialist alcohol services in various locations:

  • Redbridge – Alcohol service: the WDP Redbridge Alcohol Service is a free and confidential service for all those who are experiencing difficulties with alcohol living within the London Borough of Redbridge. The aim is to reduce the social exclusion of alcohol misusers and the harm that they may cause to themselves or the community. WDP’s alcohol specialists in Redbridge work in partnership with the Redbridge Drug and Alcohol Service to undertake initial assessments with clients as well as brief interventions, group work, and provide onward referrals to appropriate services.
  • Hertfordshire – Family therapy: since 2009 WDP has been delivering a family therapy service in Hertfordshire called HertSpeak. HertSpeak is part of WDP’s specialist children and families service CoreKids and receives its funding from Comic Relief. The project focuses on offering interventions to parents who are experiencing problems with their alcohol use, their children and their family. Services include parenting support, play therapy for children, and family therapy.
  • Hertfordshire – PACTs: WDP delivers a specialist alcohol counselling service to clients throughout Hertfordshire, providing a flexible and responsive approach involving one-to-one and group work. WDP PACTs works in partnership with Herts Alcohol Counselling Service to provide support to people who are experiencing problems with their drinking. The team is composed of qualified and experienced counsellors and therapists who offer support and aftercare for those whose alcohol use has become a problem.
