Giving Something Back

"I was stuck and didn’t know what to do. The Giving Something Back training really motivated and inspired me. It also helped me gain the confidence I needed to take my next step." A Giving Something Back client
Giving Something Back is WDP’s supported volunteering and peer advocacy project. It is aimed at former service users who are in a place of stability within their recovery and seek support to reintegrate into the community. The WDP project received a three year grant from the Big Lottery Fund to run the programme across various London boroughs.
There are two tiers to the Giving Something Back project:
- The supported volunteering programme supports clients to engage in a range of volunteering opportunities including working in homeless projects and charity shops. Click here for more information.
- The peer advocacy programme trains clients to become mentors. Click here for more information.
The Giving Something Back project started running in spring 2011 and has been very successful so far. You can read our press release about the grant here: http://www.wdp-drugs.org.uk/news.php/6/wdp-wins-big-lottery-funding
