WDP's  Volunteer Placement Programme

Volunteering

Hello and welcome to WDP's Placement Programme for Volunteers and Trainees.

WDP is widely recognised as a leading provider of substance misuse treatment. We draw on a long, well-established record of providing placements. There are a large number of people on placement with us at any one time; placements offer a great opportunity to gain experience in the drug and alcohol field, and more broadly, to gain experience working in a charity.  Many people have moved from an unpaid role with us into paid employment in the drug and alcohol field, as well as getting jobs in other sectors.

We recruit for positions when existing roles become vacant, so we review applications regularly through the year (see the How to Apply section below). Please be aware that there can be a lot of competition for places, so it is not possible for us to offer a role to everyone who applies.  Do refer to our Frequently Asked Questions, as this explains more about the recruitment process and details of what we may be looking for in a volunteer/trainee.

For our Organisational Support and Drug and Alcohol Practitioner roles we generally ask that applicants will commit to a placement for a period of 6 months, for at least 2 days a week.  Counselling roles would usually require a commitment of approximately half a working day, for the duration of an academic year.

Please click on the below links or refer to the left hand column for an overview of placement opportunities available within WDP.

You should find the answers to your questions under 'FAQs' but if if you need further information about volunteering at WDP, you can email volunteers@wdp-drugs.org.uk
